וַיֹּ֡אמֶר חָלִילָה֩ לִּ֨י יְהוָ֜ה מֵעֲשֹׂ֣תִי זֹ֗את הֲדַ֤ם הָֽאֲנָשִׁים֙ הַהֹלְכִ֣ים בְּנַפְשׁוֹתָ֔ם וְלֹ֥א אָבָ֖ה לִשְׁתּוֹתָ֑ם אֵ֣לֶּה עָשׂ֔וּ שְׁלֹ֖שֶׁת הַגִּבֹּרִֽים׃ (ס)
Lalu ia berkata, “Jauhlah dariku di hadapan Yang Mahakekal untuk melakukan hal ini! Bukankah ini darah orang-orang yang pergi dengan mempertaruhkan nyawa mereka?” Maka ia tidak mau meminumnya. Itulah yang dilakukan oleh ketiga pahlawan itu.
I Chronicles
And he said: G d forbid that I should do this. Shall I drink [the blood] of these men with their lives? For at [the risk of] their lives did they bring it! And he did not want to drink it. These (things) were done by the three warriors.
